The petrochemical industry involves corrosive fluids such as acids, alkalis, and salts. Stainless steel pipes have the characteristics of corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. For stainless steel pipes for food and medicine, the content of harmful elements they contain must be within a range lower than the national standard. Harmful elements mainly refer to sulfur, phosphorus, lead, hexavalent chromium, etc. Surface treatment is not a means of distinction but only a process. High surface finish on both the inner and outer surfaces results in very little adhesion of media, which is beneficial for corrosion resistance. The higher the surface finish of the inner surface of the pipe, the less liquid medium will be retained, which is conducive to flushing. This is especially true in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

The nuclear power plants under construction and in preparation in China are mainly pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants with very mature technology and safety. In the construction of pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants and the manufacturing of mechanical equipment, the seamless steel pipes used can be divided into four major categories, namely carbon steel/carbon-manganese steel/low alloy steel pipes, chromium-molybdenum steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, and nickel-based alloy pipes. Among them, stainless steel seamless pipes are used in key components such as the main pipelines of the nuclear power plant (coolant), coolant-related primary circuit pipelines, heat transfer tubes of steam generators, and steam drain pipelines.

The braking device of high-speed rail and bullet train is a device used to realize train deceleration or stop running to ensure driving safety. Stainless steel polished pipes and BA capillary pipes are widely used in electronics, instrumentation, oxygen transportation and other industries with excellent roughness, dimensional accuracy and cleanliness.

For pipelines with a medium temperature of ≤-20°C on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and offshore drilling platforms, seamless stainless steel pipes for fluid transport (GB/T 14976-2012) and steel butt-welding seamless pipe fittings (GB/T 12459-2005) are adopted. They have relatively high requirements for the low-temperature performance and seawater corrosion resistance of the pipe material.
